Excuse the Instagram picture! It's the only one I had! :)
I am so glad that I found this pattern at Two Little Banshees! I haven't a clue how I stumbled across it. I haven't been able to find it again using any of the search terms that I could think I would of used. I did finally find it using the search terms "free fat quarter baby quilt" and there it popped up in the images! Thank goodness! I really thought I would have to, ahem, make some excuse about not having it! :)
I love this little quilt! Everything seemed to work out perfectly on all of it!
My corners matched up (mostly). The quilting is so straight! The binding went together beautifully! The embroidery wasn't a complete pain in the booty!
Best of all my coworker loves it!
Now I did make some changes to the original patterns. The original patterns cuts most of the fabric at 5 inches and 10 inches. Because I made a mistake with the layout with the fat quarter I ended up needing to make most of my blocks at 4 inches and 8 inches. I also added in the large border to give the quilt a larger presence and a larger layout in general. I'll be back soon to break down my measurements!
I have actually never sold one of my quilts before. Although I've made some customized quilts for my niece and nephews per my sister's specifications, I've never made one for a "client". Let me tell you figuring out how much to charge her was HARD!! I think it would be so much easier to sell one to someone I don't know because there is no guilt involved in the sell. You know... are you charging too much? Too little? What if they don't like it? What if they don't like it but won't tell you?? Yikes!
I'm starting on a new baby quilt first thing in the morning for a coworker down the way who just had his first son with his wife. I am using my "standard" pattern for this gift. Hopefully the colors will go over well and they will love it!
Hopefully I'll remember to take photos of all the steps and be able to share an actual tutorial soon versus my random ramblings and pictures of my cats! (This is what happens when you don't have children. You take lots of photos of your pets!)
Have a wonderful night and happy Valentine's day!
Love,
Ashley
