I'm actually still having trouble balancing it all. I have found that I am doing a bunch of hand sewing of hexagons and cutting out of the paper pieces. I refuse to pay for the paper pieces thus I cut them all out by hand!
When I last posted I shared I was using this picture as my inspiration from this site.

Currently I am 331 hexies into my quilt and I'm quite happy with how it is going.

Current progress! |
I have it hanging up on my wall in the living room to keep it from crumpling and also getting too messed up! Plus it is so pretty!
I'm not too sure where do go moving forward. I don't know what my final size will be. One option is create multiple around-the-world hexagons with nine colorful layers around the center and the black as the border. This would allow me to bring it all the way out to a queen or king size with generous borders. On the other hand I can make the center bigger and just take it to a lap or even twin sized.
Because I am so undecided right now I've been making more solid hexies. I've made around 150 more since the end of January. It is a nice watching TV project.
Now I just need to figure what to do with this moving forward. Where do you think I should go?

Keep sewing!
I wondered where you went to Ashley! It is hard to find a blogging rhythm even without a full time job, let alone two. Great idea to do the hexies and they look wonderful too!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lara! I have really missed blogging. Definitely going to have to devote time every week to getting back in this even if I just post a picture of my hexies!
DeleteLooking beautiful! I'm also a huge fan of keeping my WIPs hanging up for all to see since they're to pretty!
ReplyDeleteExactly! Plus it keeps me motivated to keep working at it!
DeleteI found you! It took a bit...you come in as no-reply, did you know this? 331!!! Gulp. And you've made 150 more?? I am impressed. As for where to go, I do not know. What I DO know is you are way more ambitious than I with the hand-sewing! Thanks for the sweet comment on my blog today; I needed that! I wrote a long reply to you, but I can't find an email for you. Suffice it to say, you might have given me a topic for another post...and I do believe cats get memos. Uh huh. So many many times I hear that others' cats behave (or not, lol) in the exact same way!
ReplyDeleteI actually didn't know that. I thought I had corrected it. I tried again. I'm still learning about all this! I actually have about 800 made total but still trying to figure it all out! Cats definitely are just attracted to sewing projects!
DeleteWay to go! I hear you on the tricky balance question....
ReplyDeleteThanks, Christa!
DeleteI teach too and yes the rhythm of blogging is affected! Lovely work, and thanks for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I look forward to seeing more of your quilt blocks!
