Gifted Baby Quilt

I finally finished another quilt! A disappearing nine-patch made with navy, grey and green for a sweet friend's baby boy, who recently turned 7 months old! One day I'll gift a quilt before you can measure the baby's age in months!

This friend and her sweet baby have a very special place in my heart. Little boy was born very early and spent many weeks in the hospital building up strength to go home. He was home for a bit and then returned to the hospital with some complications. But recently was able to go home! This little one is dearly loved by many and had many prayers over him!

Baby Boy Animal Quilt

One of these days I will become more consistent with my posting! But until then expect me every few weeks...erm... months.

I found this great image on Pinterest that led me to Sarah Goer Quilts and decided to recreate it with my own twist!

I decided to go with a 36" square size to make a great sized baby quilt.

I found this great fat quarter bundle of different animals in grey, teal and blue and ended up buying two so I could make this quilt. Of course I could have changed the sizing to keep the directional print consistent. Also, purchasing yardage may have been simpler given the prints. But it worked out!

A Finish and a Giveaway

This post marks my 100th published blog post! In honor of that, I am hosting a small giveaway! More details to follow.

But first, details on a finish!

In January, I shared a pretty teal and pink quilt that I made during my Christmas break. I wasn't sure what to do with the quilt so I shared it in some "for sale" groups on Facebook ... and it sold!

The buyer asked if I had a boy quilt as well, but I didn't have one made. I offered to make one in the same pattern in her preferred colors. She wanted dark and medium blue. Her son also likes superheros so I had to incorporate some.

Travel Baby Quilt - A Finish!

This baby quilt was finished in December 2017 - I just didn't have time to write a post plus I needed to deliver it to baby! The end of the school year and then the flu during break completely derailed all of my plans! Plus the start of the new school year. Things have been a little nutty!

I mostly followed my standby baby quilt pattern. I shared it nearly four years ago - I still haven't found that darn book! I'm going to blame our move for not being able to find it now. Just because it was 6 months ago means nothing!

Instead of a 3 by 5 pattern, I went with a 5 by 5 layout. I really like a square quilt for babies and toddlers.

This quilt was made entirely out of fabric from my stash! I made it for one of my previous interns who had a sweet little boy in April. Yes, I know it's a bit late! But better late than never! His nursery theme is travel - I was excited to find the fun transportation fabric in my stash to use!

Four Years in the Making!

... and two weeks to take photos!

Way back in 2014, I shared about a great quilting class that I had attended at a quilt shop in a nearby  town. (That post was actually my fourth post! This will be my 98th published post!) Unfortunately, that quilt shop closed at mid year last year. Yes, right as I moved within 30 minutes of it!

I just read over that post and I wrote that I hoped to finish the quilt by end of summer so my husband could use it in the winter. Y'all, I didn't. In fact, I JUST finished it! Two weeks ago! I waited to share this post until I had the photos taken.

It doesn't have a label yet. My husband wants a cross stitched label but badly wanted to use his quilt! So into the wash it went so it could crinkle up for him to use!

For Christmas, my mom gifted us money so we could get whatever we wanted/needed. My husband decided a great use of it would be for us to rent time on a long arm machine! That way I would get to play on a long arm - which I had never done - and he could get his finished quilt!

Another Pinwheel Quilt - Pink and Teal

Happy New Year!!

My first published finish of 2018! This quit was technically completed in December 2017 but I just didn't have the time to actually post about it. This quilt was actually the inspiration for the commissioned quilt that I wrote about last week.

This quilts finished at 38" square after washing. I know it doesn't look square here but it is! Each of the half-square triangles measured 7.75" finished.

I quilted this one on the diagonal as well. Happy crinkles!
